Nice to see that other people, other than T people alone, cannot get an appointment to see His Almighty Royal Highness, St. Barney of Newton, the Patron Saint of all laws pertaining to GLBT. Wonder if he crowned any of the handicapped people with his noble sceptre on the way out? Still, the Patriot Acts, however odious, are still codified in law and very, very enforceable. Running a protest such as this, while it may be a desperate act in response to a noble problem, isn't going to end in anything but arrests & indictments. As you said, the way it was done in the past isn't always going to work today. As for Barn, I keep hearing from my Hill sources that a Cabinet position may await him, if Obama's elected. I hope he gets that. It would get him our of our way, and allow Tammy Baldwin, who supports us, to take the lead. If that doesn't happen, would someone please run against the old purple dinosaur? It's way too personal for him, and he has a long record of ramming the Tower of Power up the T community's anus. Many of us are involved with more than one organization. We have to be careful about how we present ourselves and what we say. What we say should clearly be represented as an indivdual opinion or comment unless we are a designated knowledgeable spokesperson for an organization. It's the old story of one "aw shit" wiping out a thousand "ata boys." Barry Frank is still uncomfortable with us, but he has come a long way and does good things that benefit us. We may be warriors, but we need to learn how to act as diplomats. I expect I will be learnng until I Die. Keep up the fine work. Everything takes time. This a timely article.
